TCTC on the streets of Melbourne City
It’s a scorcher in Melbourne City today – 36 degrees Celsius. I’ve run off home to cower in the air conditioning. But before I did I went for a letch to see what was happening around the CBD in the lead up to Santa’s reign of terror!
It’s a well-known fact that here is no shortage of graffiti covered laneways in Melbourne’s CBD. Street art is a widely accepted art form across Melbourne and plays a major part in creating the artistic urban vibe that has put Melbourne on the world stage of creative cities.
I’m always on the lookout for a new laneway I haven’t visited before or a known location that’s had a shakeup. Today I wandered off down Union Lane to escape the barrage of Xmas gift wrapping stations and shoppers gone wild at the Bourke Street Mall.
Not only did I spot some cool pieces of graffiti but also had the pleasure of coming across three styling young lads who were also out for a street art letch.
Following this I went to see what was happening on the sneaker front at Fast Times Skateboarding on Swanston Street. Love the vibe at this skate store, it's laid back and has a lounge feel. It’s almost like being at home, well if home had about a hundred pairs of sneakers and they were all brand new! I wish. Dear Santa, this year I’ve been a super good girl…….
Anyway, back to reality, as soon as you come in off the street you're welcomed by a comfy couch and tv playing the latest skate tricks. This is where I sat while I gave a pair of adidas and Na-Kel Smith’s Matchcourt High RX sneakers a thorough going over. They’re fresh off the press last week and boy are they fine. Crafted from Italian velvet and suede and with a vulcanised rubber outsole. Adidas have said that the purple colour scheme is a nod to Hollywood royalty and musical icons and they sure do embody this essence.
Well for the rest of the day it’s back to the studio to flip a freshly baked jacket out of the oven but stay tuned, TCTC will be taking to the streets regularly to hunt down like minded streetwear enthusiasts.
